Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Protection, seeks an Air Quality Program Specialist to develop and revise regulations ensuring compliance with national air quality standards. The role covers pollutants such as lead, SO2, ozone, PM2.5, and NO2, and contributes to SIP planning and regulatory updates.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as an Air Quality Specialist or one year as an Air Monitoring Program Supervisor, or three years in air pollution control with related Bachelor's degree
  • An equivalent combination of experience and/or training

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Research: Conduct research on air quality issues and interpret applicable Federal and State laws and regulations
  • Briefing Preparation: Develop briefing materials to support program policy decisions
  • Technical Support: Provide technical, editorial, and administrative support for EPA regulatory and SIP activities
  • Interagency Coordination: Facilitate communication between EPA Region 3 and DEP for SIP revisions
  • Legal Review Assistance: Evaluate legal documents to determine impacts on air program operations
  • Collaborative Planning: Work with air program staff, legal personnel, coordination teams, Commonwealth agencies, and EPA during SIP development and implementation
