Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an Air Monitoring Equipment Specialist to maintain and calibrate air monitoring instruments across the state. You will travel to monitoring sites, perform scheduled maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and document results to support clean air initiatives.

This role emphasizes hands-on working with specialized equipment, independent work, and reliability in collecting accurate environmental data for public health.

Qualifications

• Two years of technical experience testing and repairing electronic or electrical equipment.
• An associate degree in electronics, electrical engineering technology, information sciences and technology, or a closely related field.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance at monitoring stations to prevent equipment malfunctions.
• Review precision checks for analyzers and troubleshoot issues when readings fall outside acceptable limits.
• Calibrate air monitoring instruments using approved methods and document results accurately.
• Analyze symptoms and parameters to identify and repair malfunctions in sensors and support equipment.
• Maintain PM2.5 and other sampler systems by changing filters, preparing documentation, and completing required verifications.
• Travel to monitoring sites, maintain vehicle supplies, and document tasks using smartphones and computers.
