Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking an Environmental Manager 2 in Air Compliance to conduct inspections, review reports, and ensure compliance with air permits and state/federal regulations across Indiana. The role involves coordinating with regulated sources, enforcement staff, and IDEM programs to complete commitments accurately.

Ideal candidates have extensive environmental knowledge and the ability to prepare technical analyses, write precise reports, and communicate with diverse stakeholders

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of theories, environmental protection principles and practices.
• Thorough knowledge of chemistry, biology, hydrology, mathematics, engineering and environmental sciences.
• Excellent research and writing skills for precise reports.
• Ability to conduct inspections, interpret findings, and make recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as environmental expert and guidance to regulated communities and staff.
• Perform project management to coordinate program needs and deadlines.
• Research permits, respond to comments, defend terms, and participate in hearings.
• Conduct surveys, inspections and investigations of facilities and sites.
• Enforce compliance using tools to restore regulatory compliance.
• Prepare sampling/work plans and conduct field work per SOPs.
• Provide technical analyses to assess environmental impacts and regulatory outcomes.
• Communicate with responsible parties and stakeholders professionally.
