Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding in Chicago is seeking an Air Operations Coordinator to manage import and export airfreight movements and act as the main liaison between customers, brokers, and carriers. The role includes space bookings with airlines, adherence to aviation security procedures, and CW1-based cost tracking.

The position is office-based at ORD with a Monday–Friday schedule and a hybrid work option; occasional after-hours work and domestic travel may be required during peak events.

Qualifications

• Experience with import & export air freight processes.
• Knowledge of aviation security procedures (DG/TSA) for air cargo.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for coordination among customers, customs brokers, and carriers.
• Coordinate import and export airfreight bookings and monitor shipments from arrival to post-delivery.
• Manage file overheads, vendor invoices, and cost recording in CW1; ensure invoicing milestones.
• Coordinate day-to-day operations with the team to meet timelines and objectives.
• Oversee operational overviews and pre-alerts to ensure operational excellence.
• Work in the ORD office with hybrid WFH days; support peak race periods with after-hours and occasional travel.
