Job summary

Texas State University in San Marcos is seeking an entry-level HVAC technician (Mech I) to join the Facilities Operations team. You will assist with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across campus.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, EPA Section 608 Universal Certification, and 1 year of HVAC experience; after-hours on-call duties are part of the schedule. A Texas driver's license is required.

  • Change filters, belts, bearings and other maintenance components as required.
  • Monitor and document equipment performance and operating conditions.
  • Respond to service requests and support campus work orders.
  • Assist in diagnosing mechanical and electrical HVAC system issues.
  • Follow all university safety procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Support emergency response activities related to HVAC system failures or building comfort issues.
  • Participate in training programs and continuing education opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
