JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of faculty members, the lab assistant performs routine, standardized air conditioning laboratory work requiring close attention to detailed procedures in the preparation and basic maintenance of air conditioning laboratory equipment, inventory and requisition of supplies, assisting faculty in the supervision of students assigned to laboratories, and other related duties. Employed on an individual academic semester basis. Duties include but are not limited to assisting faculty members with classroom instruction, adherence to safety procedures, and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction; tutoring or mentoring students; cleaning labs as needed; and obtaining materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials. Selected candidate must be able to work morning, afternoon or evening hours, Monday through Thursday The payment method is based on contact hours, with a rate of $18.00 per contact hour.
This job operates in a professional classroom and lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office, classroom, and lab equipment and technology.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
