Job summary

MAT Holdings, Inc. seeks a senior design engineer to lead design, development and launch of new air compressors. This hands-on role requires strong technical and project management skills and collaboration across teams to bring designs to production.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree and 5+ years of design experience, with knowledge of gas/electric motor driven products and cost-conscious development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field; equivalent experience.
• 5+ years design engineering experience, preferably with air compressors or power tools.
• Experience with gas/electric motor driven products.
• Experience in new product development process (Stage Gate or Milestones).
• Knowledge of UL 1450 / CSA C22.2 compliance; ASME pressure vessels a plus.
• Hands-on mechanical intuition with experience in plastic, die casting, and metalworking components.

Responsibilities

• Create innovative equipment designs that align with customer requirements, industry standards, and design codes.
• Evaluate existing designs identifying deficiencies and developing improvements.
• Design and develop prototypes.
• Analyze and test prototypes at each revision of a design.
• CAD (CREO 3D) of components and assemblies.
• Develop and manage all phases of projects.
• Prepare documentation of critical analysis and provide corrective recommendations.
• Collaborate with Project Managers for proper resource allocation and tracking.
• Review lab and field test failures and guide product improvements.
• Perform calculations to validate designs.
