Job summary

Jobtailor in Kenner, LA is seeking a reliable Ramp Agent to transport, load and unload air freight containers, and operate ramp equipment safely in a fast-paced, non-temperature-controlled environment. You will read off-load sheets, assist with push-out procedures, and maintain strict safety while coordinating with the cockpit during push-back.

This role also requires lifting up to 50 lbs and weekend availability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or international equivalent required.
• One-year experience in similar role preferred not required.
• Valid Driver’s license (depending on station).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and holidays.
• Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
• Ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings, with and without assistance of sight or visual aids.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off.
• Ability to judge distances.
• Ability to successfully communicate with others.
• 1 year forklift experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather.
• Ability to stand for an entire shift and move long distances across facilities

Responsibilities

• Transport, load, and unload air freight containers from aircraft within confined areas.
• Push, pull, and position loaded air freight containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs
• Remove tie-downs and other gear when loading and unloading
• Read off-load sheets to determine destinations of Express packages
• Operate ramp equipment with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs in congested aircraft and vehicle areas
• Position vehicles up to aircraft
• Engage in aircraft push-out by driving an 80,000 lb vehicle or assist as a guide to the driver
• Speak to the cockpit during push-back procedures
• Move Express packages from aircraft to warehouse to trucks in a cross-dock operation with no/minimal storage
