As part of Apple’s AI and Machine Learning org, you will be developing new ML-powered sensing and intelligence capabilities for home, health, and more. This role will drive the collection of high-quality training data from consumer devices for a variety of ground-breaking use cases.

Description

You will program manage Research and Applied ML’s data collections:

  1. Working with modeling teams to determine data collection requirements
  2. Interfacing with our data operations teams to ensure completion and quality of collection and annotation

You will collaborate with teams and be the expert for many aspects of our data collections:

  1. Data collection methodologies
  2. Landscape of available data collection tools and infrastructure
  3. Compliance with Apple’s legal, user consent, privacy and security policies as well as securing approvals
  4. Data science to ensure sufficient representative data is collected
  5. Interpreting evaluations and doing failure analysis on the collected data

You will also be responsible for scaling and optimizing our data collection efforts as a whole:

  1. Driving the roadmap for shared tooling and infrastructure for data collections
  2. Finding opportunities across modeling teams to share data and/or data collection efforts

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 6+ years of experience in project or program management with prior experience in data collection for machine learning
  2. Excellent program management skills including program structuring and managing multiple work streams interdependently with the capability to work across a large number of teams to enforce process and efficient outcomes in a data-driven environment
  3. Strong analytical skills and obsession for data, solid understanding of metrics measuring machine learning models and overall system quality
  4. Demonstrated data-driven decision-making skills, including experience leading metrics-driven projects or programs.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to independently draft and present deliverables, recommendations

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Prior PM or engineering experience in shipping products driven by machine-learned systems to worldwide users
  2. BS, MS or PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Computer Science, etc.) or equivalent experience

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $157,000 and $278,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation.
