Job summary

Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, TX is seeking a Nurse Aide to support patient care across nursing areas under licensed supervision. You will assist with ADLs, feeding, elimination, and vital signs, documenting findings and reporting changes to the nursing team.

Responsibilities include restorative care, room maintenance, infection control, equipment safety, discharge support, and assisting with transport. Training and orientation duties may be included.

Qualifications

• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• PCA experience preferred.
• Education: High school diploma; PCA training program with certificate or Nurse Aide program; Nursing Aides without licensure will be in PCA role.
• Licenses: PCA certificate or Nurse Aide program completion.

• Collects and documents patient information (weights, vital signs) and reports changes.
• Provides restorative care per care plan and documents accordingly.
• Keeps patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly; changes linens as needed.
• Adheres to infection control practices and OSHA standards.
• Operates equipment and performs procedures safely; reports faulty equipment.
• Assists with discharge process including transport and hygiene assistance.
• Assists with patient transport through the facility.
• Assists with orientation and training of others.
• Other duties as assigned.

How You'll Contribute

A Nurse Aide who excels in this role:

• Assists with patient care throughout nursing areas under the direction of licensed personnel.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and documents accordingly.
• Assists patient with feeding and/or meals as assigned and documents accordingly.
• Assists patient with elimination needs as is appropriate and documents accordingly.
• Answers alarm pendants and respond to residents'/patients' needs appropriately and promptly.
• Collects and documents patient information as needed (including weights and vital signs). Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Provides restorative care per care plan. Documents accordingly.
• Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly. Changes linens of occupied / unoccupied beds.
• Demonstrates proper infection control practice and adheres to Infection Control Policies and Procedures and OSHA standards.
• Operates all equipment and performs all procedures/care in a safe manner. Reports faulty and/or dangerous equipment as necessary
• Assists in discharge process of patients to include transport, packing of personal belongings, and assistance with hygiene needs as requested.
• Provides for safe transport of patients through the institution. Appropriate measures are being taken to escort patients into and out of the facility.
• Assists with postmortem care including transport to the morgue.
• Assists with orientation and training of others as directed.
• Other duties as assigned. Employees may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

What We're Looking For

• PCA experience preferred.
• Education: Preferred: High school diploma; PCA training program with Certificate or Nurse Aide educational program; Nursing Aides who have completed the required education but have not obtained state licensure will be in PCA role.
• Licenses: PCA certificate from PCA training program, or completion of Nurse Aide educational program
