Job summary

Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking an Aftercare Program Staff member to provide a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for students in the aftercare program.

You will supervise daily activities, assist with homework, and support academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development in alignment with Catholic education values. Job Summary

The Aftercare Program Staff member is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for students participating in the school's aftercare program. This position supports students' academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development by supervising daily activities, assisting with homework, fostering positive relationships, and ensuring a nurturing atmosphere that reflects the mission and values of Catholic education.

Job Responsibilities
Student Supervision & Safety
  • Provide attentive supervision of students throughout the aftercare program.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and appropriate behavior of all students.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure proper student dismissal procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to student needs, injuries, or emergencies in accordance with school policies.
Student Engagement
  • Assist students with homework and encourage positive study habits.
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
  • Foster positive social interactions and encourage respectful behavior among students.
  • Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and caring environment for all participants.
Program Operations
  • Prepare and serve snacks following school health and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe aftercare environment.
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning activity areas and supplies.
  • Follow established program schedules, routines, and school procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and administrators regarding student needs or concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow aftercare staff and school personnel to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
  • Report incidents, behavioral concerns, or safety issues promptly to the Aftercare Coordinator or Principal.

  • Model Christian values through respectful interactions with students, families, colleagues, and visitors.
  • Contribute to a positive, faith-filled school environment.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and engage students in a positive and caring manner.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Dependable, patient, flexible, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
