Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking an Aftercare Worker to provide a safe, nurturing environment for students in the school’s aftercare program. The role involves supervising activities, guiding behavior, and supporting families while reflecting Catholic education values.

You will collaborate with school staff, plan age-appropriate activities, ensure attendance and safety, and uphold a welcoming, orderly program at the school site.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children in school/daycare/camp settings preferred.
  • Ability to supervise groups of children in a safe, positive, and organized environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage a designated group of students during aftercare hours.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and appropriate supervision of all children in the program.
  • Plan, lead, and participate in age-appropriate games, crafts, recreational activities, homework time, and quiet activities.
  • Maintain a structured, respectful, and welcoming environment that promotes positive behavior and Christian values.
  • Assist with snack distribution, cleanup, and transitions between activities.
  • Monitor student behavior and implement school expectations in a positive and consistent manner.
  • Report behavioral, disciplinary, medical, or safety concerns promptly to the Aftercare Coordinator or school administration.
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance records and follow established student sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and fellow staff members.
  • Assist with organizing, cleaning, and securing aftercare materials and activity spaces at the end of each session.
  • Follow all school policies and diocesan Safe Environment and child protection requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Aftercare Coordinator or Principal.

Job Summary
