Job summary

Ector County Independent School District is seeking an Aide - Bilingual to support teachers in delivering bilingual instruction in English and Spanish. This non-exempt role reports to the principal and covers 187 student days with ongoing collaboration among campus staff.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or 48 semester hours (or equivalent assessment), a high school diploma, and strong communication with parents. Prior experience working with students is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with instruction in both languages; support individual and small group instruction.

• Participate in in-service sessions as needed.
• Assist with administration, scoring, and documentation of assessments as directed by the teacher.
• Maintain room and material organization; perform other duties as assigned.

Supervises:

Primary Purpose: To assist the teacher in carrying out the prescribed program for each student.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Ability to meet the No Child Left Behind requirements: Associate's Degree, 48 Semester hours, or Academic Assessment. (PAT)
• High School Diploma or GED.

Special Knowledge Skills:

• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Proficiency in computer technology.
• Ability to communicate and work with parents.
• Successful experience in working with students is preferred.

Experience:

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist the classroom teacher with the instruction of students in both languages, individual and small group instruction is recommended.
• Assist the teacher in the planning and preparation of instructional activities and materials.
• Work cooperatively with other school personnel in the program in developing, implementing and assessing the program.
• Attend in service sessions as deemed necessary.
• Assist the classroom teacher with the preparations necessary for administration of assessments, the initial administration, scoring and documenting of test results are the teacher's responsibility, the aide may assist with end-of-year testing.
• Assist in room and material maintenance; perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or school principal.
