Job summary

Trend Micro’s TrendAI unit seeks a Threat Detection & Response Engineer to research AI-era threats and build detection capabilities. This mid-level, hands-on role blends threat research with engineering, collaborating with architecture and AI/ML teams to translate findings into production-ready protections.

You will prototype defenses, test implementations, and contribute to deployment across threat intelligence and detection engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years in cybersecurity, software engineering, or a related technical field, with exposure to threat detection and response.
• Experience building or contributing to technical systems that reached production.
• Familiarity with security tooling and operational workflows, and awareness of MITRE ATT&CK.

Responsibilities

• Threat & technology research. Investigate emerging AI-era threats and summarize findings for the team.
• Detection engineering. Build, test, and refine detection-and-response capabilities that integrate with existing security tooling and analyst workflows.
• Prototyping & experimentation. Develop and evaluate prototypes to test the feasibility of new defensive approaches; document specifications.
• Collaboration. Partner with detection engineering, data science, and platform teams to move prototypes toward production-ready capabilities.
• Communication. Communicate research findings and technical work clearly to teammates and stakeholders.
