Job summary

Goldman Sachs seeks a senior technology attorney to join the Technology Legal team in New York or US/EMEA offices, focusing on AI governance and data protection across the firm. You will guide engineering and business units on regulatory risk and compliance for AI initiatives.

The role requires deep knowledge of the EU AI Act and GDPR, with responsibilities spanning enterprise risk, regulatory obligations, and cross‑functional collaboration with privacy, cybersecurity, and IP teams.

Qualifications

• Licensed and Barred Attorney with admission to practice.
• Minimum 5 years as a technology attorney in a firm or in‑house role.
• Strong understanding of AI regulation and data protection matters.
• Knowledge of GDPR and global data protection regimes.
• Experience advising on cyber/data incident response and regulatory notifications.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and propose practical solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise Engineering and business units on AI regulation and governance.
• Provide legal support on AI applications and model development.
• Advise on AI laws focusing on personal data; GDPR and EU AI Act familiarity.
• Support AI integration into products, assessing enterprise risk and mitigation.
• Collaborate with privacy, cybersecurity, sourcing and IP SMEs on initiatives.
• Provide global legal advice on AI, data protection, privacy, governance, cybersecurity.
• Support governance functions to manage AI risk and systems.
• Assist Technology Legal in responding to cyber and data incidents, including notifications.
