Job summary

Nakupuna Consulting seeks an AI Solutions Engineer to architect and deploy Retrieval-Augmented Generation solutions in an AWS environment. You will design models using DPAA data, collaborate with customers to scope use cases, and deliver scalable, secure AI deployments across cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on implementation of AWS services, data pipelines, and DevOps practices, with on-site collaboration in Arlington VA or Honolulu HI and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in systems administration and cloud operations.
• Experience supporting DoD IT environments preferred.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and ticketing systems such as JIRA is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI/ML scientists to design and evaluate generative AI solutions.
• Engage with customers to understand business problems and help implement AI solutions.
• Brief customers on adoption strategies and deployment pathways.
• Create tutorials, samples, and presentations for technical and executive audiences.
• Provide feedback to product and engineering teams to influence roadmap.
• Implement data pipelines, vectorization methods, and API integrations using Python and AWS.
• Utilize AWS AI/ML services (SageMaker, Bedrock, Comprehend) for model development.
• Manage data with AWS storage solutions (S3, OpenSearch, Aurora).
• Apply vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, OpenSearch) for retrieval tasks.
• Integrate LLM APIs and orchestrate retrieval systems with generative models.
• Demonstrate DevOps and security best practices on AWS (IAM, VPCs, encryption).
• Use Docker and AWS Lambda/ECS for scalable RAG pipelines.
• Run Lambda-based responses to service alerts.
• Support security and compliance with DoD requirements.
• Evaluate new AWS technologies and modernization paths.
• Develop SOPs and technical docs for operations.
• Adhere to Agile practices and ticketing workflows.
