Job summary

Meijer is hiring a Software Engineer I, AI to design, develop, test and support AI-enabled software within Meijer Technology. You’ll work on the AI team that builds the enterprise AI assistant and shared services across the business.

The role involves delivering features, reviewing code, and deploying AI-enabled services in a hybrid model. Ideal candidates will have a Computer Science-leaning degree or equivalent, strong programming skills (Python/TypeScript/C#), REST APIs, Git, and experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a technical field.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language (Python/TS/C#).
• Experience with REST APIs, authentication and Git.
• Familiarity with testing practices and debugging with logs.
• Experience delivering software projects via academic, internship or job work.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Experience using AI tools in development and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Delivers features and components with growing ownership over time.
• Participates in code reviews and implements feedback.
• Delivers tested code and documentation on a regular cadence.
• Designs, develops, tests and deploys features and services with enterprise integrations.
• Builds AI-enabled capabilities, including retrieval components and API integrations.
• Builds and deploys containerized services via CI/CD pipelines in production.
• Writes and maintains automated tests and monitors quality.
• Participates in on-call rotation and performs root cause analysis.
• Uses AI-assisted development tools and shares best practices with the team.
• Writes technical documentation including designs and runbooks.
• Collaborates with product, security and analytics teams on requirements.
• Participates in Agile ceremonies and planning.
