Job summary

The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University seeks an Assistant AI Security Software Engineer to develop ML-based tools and prototypes addressing AI security challenges. You will work with researchers to design experiments, deploy scalable systems, and analyze diverse cybersecurity data in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities include advancing AI red teaming, leveraging ML and software engineering best practices, and translating research into practical

Qualifications

  • BS in computer science or related discipline.
  • Understanding of software engineering principles and system design.
  • Experience with containerization and microservices architectures.
  • Willingness to travel ~5% to SEI/CMU sites and sponsor locations.
  • Background check and DoW security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop ML-based prototypes, tools, and systems for AI security applications.
  • Collaborate with researchers to design and execute experimental AI security solutions.
  • Apply software engineering best practices to build scalable systems.
  • Analyze large cybersecurity datasets using strong analytical skills.
  • Support AI red teaming and adversarial ML initiatives.
  • Translate research concepts into practical capabilities and work independently or in teams.
