Job summary

The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) CERT Division, affiliated with Carnegie Mellon University, seeks a Senior AI Security Software Engineer to advance machine learning-based security solutions. You will collaborate with researchers and customers to develop prototypes and tools that address AI security challenges and protect critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Ten years of experience with BS in CS/ML/Cybersecurity/Stats.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles.
• Experience with containerization and microservices architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML-based prototypes, tools, and systems for AI security applications.
• Collaborate with researchers to design experimental AI security solutions and communicate across audiences.
• Apply software engineering best practices to build scalable, maintainable systems.
• Process and analyze large cybersecurity datasets (malware, NetFlow, incident data).
• Support AI red teaming and adversarial ML initiatives.
• Translate research concepts into practical, operational capabilities and work both independently and in teams.
