Job Description
Company Overview
1910 Genetics is a Series A stage biotechnology company pioneering a novel Input-Transform-Output (ITO) platform, representing the first horizontal AI infrastructure for drug discovery.
The company's ITO platform is distinguished by:
- Modality-agnostic drug discovery: capable of designing both small and large molecule therapeutics across all disease areas, initially focusing on neuroscience, oncology, and autoimmune diseases.
- Proprietary massive multimodal data that overcomes data scarcity, enabling frontier AI models for drug discovery.
- Multi-AI agent systems utilizing a suite of frontier AI/ML models, each task-oriented for multi-parameter optimization in drug development.
- A state-of-the-art, fully automated high-throughput wet laboratory in Boston's Seaport District, supporting data collection for AI training and validation of drug candidates.
- A strategic partnership with Microsoft, leveraging Azure Quantum Elements—an AI-driven HPC cloud architecture for advanced AI applications.
- Custom conversational AI chatbots providing user-friendly access to our platform for specific drug discovery tasks.
- Unique position as the only biotech firm assisting pharma companies in integrating six core AI infrastructure areas.
Role Responsibilities include:
- Proposing and prototyping AI/ML solutions for 1910's design pipeline use cases.
- Applying productized AI/ML models to active drug design campaigns with minimal oversight.
- Publishing peer-reviewed scientific articles with limited support.
- Presenting recent AI research internally.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with scientific teams, serving as an AI/ML subject matter expert for cheminformatics and bioinformatics questions.
- Staying updated on cutting-edge AI research in drug discovery.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant industry experience in AI or drug discovery.
- Strong understanding of statistics and classical ML methods (e.g., SVM, RF).
- Experience deploying advanced deep learning models (Transformers, GNNs).
- Knowledge of the drug discovery process at the molecular level.
- Wet lab validation experience for AI-driven drug discovery initiatives.
- Proficiency in clean, maintainable Python code.
- Familiarity with MLOps and DevOps practices.
- Experience with distributed computing platforms (Azure, university clusters).
- Published research in top-tier AI journals and conferences.
- Ability to demonstrate business value of AI solutions in biology and medicinal chemistry.
- Excellent communication skills.
