Job summary

Perceptronics is seeking an AI Research Scientist to join our R&D team to tackle challenging, often ill-defined problems and develop new algorithmic solutions. Candidates from AI, ML, signal processing, controls, OR, and applied math backgrounds are welcome to contribute by formulating problems, evaluating methods, and improving approaches based on experiments and theory.

We work across electronic warfare, autonomy, RF analysis, unmanned systems, sensor fusion, and national security domains.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred in a technical field (CS/EE/Math/Statistics).
• Strong foundation in probability, statistics, optimization, estimation, or ML.
• Experience turning research ideas into working algorithms and reading technical literature.
• Excellent communication and collaboration within a technical team.

Responsibilities

• Investigate challenging technical problems and formulate algorithmic approaches.
• Conduct literature reviews to identify promising methods and adaptations.
• Design, implement, test, and improve prototype algorithms across AI, ML, optimization, estimation, and signal processing.
• Analyze data and systems to identify patterns and select computational approaches.
• Compare approaches and refine algorithms based on experiments and insights.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to integrate algorithms into software/hardware.
• Communicate results and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay current with academic research and identify opportunities to apply methods to Perceptronics problems.
