Job summary

Unum in Portland, ME, is seeking a senior AI product engineering leader to drive AI-first digital insurance offerings at scale. You will own the strategy, design, and deployment of Generative and agentic AI products, partnering with data scientists, product managers, and architects to deliver measurable business value.

You’ll mentor engineers, lead cross-functional teams, and promote AI-native development practices, CI/CD, and observability while balancing speed, security, and maintainability in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or related field; Masters preferred.
• 10+ years designing and building scaled AI/ML products with production deployment.
• Strong knowledge of GenAI, agentic architectures, LLM integration and RAG.
• Experience with cloud platforms, Python, Databricks, APIs and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Own AI-based product roadmap from design to deployment at enterprise scale.
• Lead cross-functional teams across Product, Data Science, and IT.
• Collaborate with executives on AI strategy and investments.
• Promote AI-native practices, automated testing, CI/CD, and observability.
