Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an AI Product Counsel to guide legal strategy for frontier AI products, including model deployments and user-facing experiences. You will collaborate with product, engineering, privacy, and regulatory teams to anticipate risks and craft compliant, scalable solutions.

The role requires deep knowledge of technology law, licensing, and AI policy, with a track record of practical problem-solving and ownership in fast-moving environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of in-house or technology-focused law experience.
• JD and license to practice in CA.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and privacy teams.
• Ability to balance risk with rapid innovation in frontier AI products.

Responsibilities

• Be the go-to counsel and partner for frontier AI models and products across teams.
• Identify and address product, regulatory, copyright, privacy, and other legal risks and mitigations.
• Develop strategies for scalable, compliant solutions and processes.
• Serve as an expert in AI legal matters and contribute to policy positions.
