Job summary

Mercury is seeking a Lead Compliance Risk Manager to serve as the compliance advisor for our AI products. This is a new, high-visibility role and the first dedicated position covering AI within Mercury's Compliance team.

You will partner with Product, Engineering, Risk, Data, Legal, and Operations to ensure AI products are compliant-by-design from concept through launch and scale, shaping governance standards and risk controls for responsible deployment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in a compliance advisory or regulatory risk role within fintech or financial services.
• Experience advising on AI, machine learning, or model-driven products in a regulated environment.
• Working knowledge of regulatory and supervisory frameworks relevant to AI in banking.
• Technical fluency to discuss model behavior, logging, data access controls with engineers.
• Proven ability to partner with product and engineering teams across the lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert and primary compliance advisor for Mercury's AI and agentic products.
• Work with cross-functional teams to market AI products in compliance with regulations and governance standards.
• Identify and document AI-specific compliance risks and design pragmatic mitigations.
• Define compliance requirements for AI platforms and data governance layers.
• Establish AI-specific compliance standards and escalation paths; evolve with growth.
• Support new product launches with clear compliance scoping and documentation.
• Monitor regulatory developments and implement required changes in products.
• Oversee multiple high-impact AI compliance workstreams with accountability for outcomes.
• Collaborate with leadership, partner banks, and external advisors on AI direction.
• Contribute to policy development, documentation standards, and audit readiness.
• Foster a culture of compliance and build scalable tools and frameworks.
