Vanguard Auto Group is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer / Developer to build business applications, AI solutions, and automate dealership workflows. You will work with leadership to turn ideas into practical software, connect systems, and improve apps based on feedback.

The role focuses on software development, AI integration, and performance, with collaboration for hosting and deployment across dealership locations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software development experience in a business setting.
• Strong Python skills and working knowledge of SQL and database design.
• Experience with web development: JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience developing and integrating APIs and connecting apps to business data.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain internal applications, dashboards, and automation tools.
• Expand and improve Vanguard Ops platform and develop new apps based on business needs.
• Use AI coding assistants effectively while reviewing AI-generated code.
• Connect applications with business systems via APIs, databases, files and browser automation.
• Build enterprise AI apps, including internal assistants and workflow automations.
• Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using company data sources.
• Build AI agents that use tools and APIs to perform business tasks.
• Install and test open-weight models locally, evaluate options, and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with IT to deploy apps and locally hosted AI models, ensure secure access across locations.
• Implement permissions, data handling, logging, and error monitoring.
• Troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and document changes.
• Work with managers to understand requirements and improve usability.
