Job summary

Ancestry is seeking an exceptional, passionate Software Engineer - Observability Engineer to join our Observability team. You will lead the development of automated migration tools for OpenTelemetry-based observability platforms while contributing to data protection and infrastructure operations.

The role involves building AI-powered tools for instrumentation migration across Java, Python, Node.js, and .NET, designing dashboards, and validating migrations with comprehensive reports.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Proficient in Python with high-quality code.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools for software engineering.
• Full-stack development exposure with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• Experience with observability concepts: logs, metrics, traces.
• Experience with AWS and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of AI-powered migration tools for OpenTelemetry-based platforms.
• Build AI agents to migrate instrumentation across languages.
• Design and implement LLM-driven dashboard migration tools.
• Develop agentic alert migration automation.
• Create validation/testing frameworks for migration reports.
• Build CLI tools, scripts, and self-service migration utilities.
• Partner with teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Present work at demos and contribute to documentation.
