Job summary

JOCO in New York City is seeking a Product Engineer to own the full product lifecycle from idea to deployment. You will design customer‑facing apps and internal tools, driving measurable improvements for riders, partners, and staff. The role blends product leadership with hands‑on engineering in a fast‑moving startup.

You will work autonomously, leverage AI tools, and ship fast while prioritizing reliability and customer value. Hybrid PM/engineering, in‑person five days a week in NYC.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering or similar technical product role.
• Experience at an early-stage startup with ability to build products from scratch.
• Strong full‑stack capabilities across frontend, backend, databases and APIs.
• Demonstrated product judgment and customer empathy.
• Experience owning projects end‑to‑end from discovery to launch.
• Proficiency with AI-powered development tools and coding agents.
• Excellent initiative, autonomy, and bias toward action.
• Strong communication with engineers, leadership, and non‑technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the entire product development lifecycle from opportunity to deployment and iteration.
• Design and build customer‑facing products and internal tools to improve rider, partner, and employee experiences.
• Obsess over customer problems and deliver pragmatic, measurable value.
• Collaborate with Operations and Strategy to translate requirements into product specs and execute.
• Architect scalable software systems and infrastructure to support JOCO's growth.
• Build software for logistics, workflows, automation, and human‑in‑the‑loop processes.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and automate workflows.
• Make independent technical and product decisions balancing speed and impact.
• Improve existing products by simplifying workflows and reducing manual steps.
• Ensure high quality, reliability, and performance from deployment to iteration.
