Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed within strategic enterprise customers, independently designing, building, deploying, and running AI-powered production systems alongside customer teams.

FDE IIs write production-grade software and own delivery of complete AI workstreams—from requirements through production—combining AWS SDE rigor with urgency and ownership to deliver measurable customer outcomes. 30–50% travel required.

Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (AI agents a plus).
Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

Embed within customer engineering teams and translate requirements into technical designs for AI-enabled production systems.
Design and develop production-grade software powering AI and agentic workflows, optimizing for latency, reliability, and cost.
Own production for your workstream: scoping, design, code, testing, deployment, operations and maintenance; troubleshoot incidents.
Mentor and uplift team members through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators.
