Job summary

Harrington Starr is partnering with an AI-native software company backed by an established financial services business to build a ground-up AI-first platform for data integration and transformation.

We’re seeking a hands-on Head of AI Engineering to define the AI strategy, scale the AI Engineering function, and stay deeply involved in the technical direction, leading by example from architecture to delivery.

Qualifications

• Hands-on leadership of AI engineers with a strong coding background.
• Proven track record building production AI systems.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG and agentic architectures.
• Familiarity with Azure or AWS and observability/gov controls.

Responsibilities

• Own the AI vision and technical strategy across a greenfield platform.
• Design and build production-grade AI systems using LLMs, RAG and agentic architectures.
• Lead and grow a team of AI Engineers while remaining hands-on.
• Define best practices around evaluation, monitoring, governance and responsible AI.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to shape the platform's future.
