Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is advancing its Observability Engineering initiative to standardize tracing, logging, and metrics across the AI software platforms.

You will help instrument services and implement OpenTelemetry to enable reliable, scalable health signals across a large microservices estate. The role focuses on delivering scalable observability tooling, guiding architecture decisions, and enabling automated health insights to surface actionable information faster than traditional dashboards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; 12+ years in platform services/DevOps with observability ownership.
• Experience with Splunk Cloud and Splunk Observability for logs, metrics, and traces.
• Proficiency in Python and Go for libraries and tooling supporting observability.
• Experience with Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry collectors, Terraform, Helm, and modern SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

• Define the observability platform vision and execute it end-to-end with software teams.
• Deliver 100% coverage of distributed tracing in collaboration with development teams.
• Own and evolve OpenTelemetry enablement for Go and Python applications.
• Drive observability best practices across logging standards and cardinality management.
