Job summary

Fairbanks Morse Technology seeks an AI/ML Software Engineer to design and build complete software products from customer requirements, focusing on predictive maintenance and automated responses for Navy shipboard equipment. You will develop modular, reusable architectures spanning backend, APIs, data pipelines, and UI.

You will apply AI tools with care, write tests, and secure code while collaborating with customers and leadership to deliver reliable solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including full-stack or full-application delivery from requirements through deployment.
• Proven ability to take an unclear customer need, define the requirements, and deliver a working, tested product.
• Strong Python and at least one other language such as C#, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C++.

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements from customers and stakeholders and translate them into a technical plan.
• Design and build full applications (backend, APIs, data pipelines, UI) to meet requirements.
• Architect modular, reusable products that can expand to other assets and customers.
• Develop and deploy AI/ML solutions for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis.
• Connect detection to action by building workflows that trigger fixes or maintenance tasks.
• Use AI coding tools safely, review and test AI-generated work, and ensure security and compliance.
