Job summary

Vanguard in Charlotte, NC seeks an AI/ML/Data Scientist with NLP, LLM, and applied ML expertise to turn complex business challenges into scalable solutions that improve efficiency, reduce risk, strengthen protection, and enhance client experiences.

You will partner with business, product, and technology teams to deliver trusted AI solutions aligned to enterprise needs, applying guardrails and responsible AI practices across projects.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; graduate degree preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience developing and implementing AI/ML solutions with experience applying ML, LLMs, NLP to business problems.
• Strong foundation in ML and statistical methods, including regression, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, deep learning, and supervised/unsupervised learning.
• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, NLP libraries, plus cloud, big data, scalable data processing, SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.

Responsibilities

• Identify high-value AI/ML use cases with stakeholders and translate business needs into solution approaches, success metrics, and delivery plans
• Develop and support AI/ML solutions using machine learning, NLP, Generative AI, and LLM-based approaches such as retrieval-augmented generation and agentic workflow automation
• Collaborate across data science and engineering teams to deploy scalable solutions with appropriate evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, and alignment to enterprise risk and responsible AI standards
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
