Department Focus

The Machine Intelligence and Exploitation Department (MIXD), within MPD, is located in Chantilly, VA, and Colorado Springs, CO. We specialize in applying AI/ML to extract and enhance the value of our customers’ data, including data fusion, computer vision, pattern recognition, and anomaly detection on large datasets for automation, discovery, and predictive modeling.

Position Overview

We are seeking AI/ML practitioners with strong backgrounds in remotely sensed data to grow our team of highly skilled specialists. Join us to be part of a culture of innovation, growth, technical excellence, and meaningful contributions to national capabilities.

Work Model

This is an onsite role, requiring at least 4 days/week onsite in Chantilly, VA or Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop innovative AI/ML applications for information extraction, including computer vision, data fusion, pattern recognition, and anomaly detection to support automation and predictive modeling.
  2. Prototype AI/ML solutions for government projects across multiple domains.
  3. Review and evaluate contractor AI/ML solutions to support program acquisition activities.
  4. Advise the government on effective AI/ML application strategies.
  5. Support high-impact projects, collaborating with experts across disciplines to explore enterprise solutions for national missions.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements for Senior Member of Technical Staff
  • Master’s degree in physical sciences, engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience working with AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch.
  • Proficiency in Python for AI/ML and data science solutions.
  • Desire to expand knowledge in AI/ML applications such as data fusion, computer vision, and anomaly detection.
  • Interest in signal and image processing and understanding of physical phenomenologies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
Additional for Engineering Specialist
  • Minimum 7 years of post-bachelor’s experience.
  • Background in signal processing, image science, spectral/spatial analysis, or computer vision.
  • Expertise in Deep Learning, Graph Applications, NLP, or large databases.
Preferred Qualifications

Additional points that would stand out include an advanced degree, proven AI/ML application experience, active security clearance, and experience with signal/image processing.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $110,400 - $193,500 annually, determined by education, experience, and skills. We offer comprehensive health plans, paid time off, flexible schedules, 401(k) matching, relocation assistance, professional development, and an inclusive work environment.
