Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Director, AI/ML Engineering to build state-of-the-art AI/ML tools and pipelines. You will join a cross-functional team of computational biologists and data scientists to accelerate discovery of therapeutic targets.

The role requires leading scalable AI/ML workflows, collaborating across disciplines, and delivering tools that empower researchers to deploy reliable AI/ML solutions. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Engineer focused on building scalable AI/ML tools and pipelines.
• Experience with Python, Torch, AWS, MLFlow, Docker and GitHub/CI-CD.
• Track record of deploying transformer-based foundation models.
• Familiar with Python packages, Docker images, and DevSecOps best practices.
• Strong communication and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of AI/ML workflows.
• Collaborate in a matrix environment to scope data needs and solutions.
• Provide technical support to AI/ML researchers and data scientists.
• Stay up-to-date with AI/ML advancements and propose innovative approaches.
