Job summary

Unissant, Inc. is seeking an Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Developer to join our team and support a federal DHS client on-site in Ashburn, VA. The role emphasizes building advanced AI/ML, computer-vision, and biometric capabilities, with data preparation, labeling, and model evaluation as core duties.

You will train, fine-tune, and deploy models, including LLMs and multimodal systems, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions into existing workflows.

Qualifications

• Three (3) or more years of experience in IT focusing on AI/ML engineering projects, CV, biometrics, MLOps, DevSecOps, and tech architecture.
• Hands-on experience developing, training, fine-tuning, evaluating, or deploying CV/AI/ML models.
• Experience with image-analysis use cases: classification, object detection, segmentation, matching, face detection, recognition, or biometric-related tasks.
• Familiarity with biometric systems, matching, identity resolution, and image-quality analysis.
• Proficiency in generative-AI models, including LLMs.
• Strong programming in Python, R, Java, and C/C++.
• Experience with ML frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, OpenCV, YOLO, Detectron, Hugging Face.
• NLP techniques including text classification and language generation.
• Experience with image-analysis model development, data augmentation, annotation/labeling, and evaluation metrics.
• Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and deployment strategies for AI/ML workflows.
• MLOps/DevSecOps practices for AI/ML deployment.
• Front-end tech: React, Angular, Vue.js, HTML, CSS, JS.
• Databases: SQL, NoSQL, vector databases, graph DBs, data warehousing.
• SQL, data exploration, feature engineering, data quality.

Responsibilities

• Drive a big data approach to manage, analyze, and enrich image, biometric, and mission data for insights.
• Provide consultative, architectural, program, and engineering support for a federal customer.
• Develop, train, evaluate, and deploy advanced AI/ML, CV, DL, and GenAI models.
• Design and implement AI solutions using CV, facial recognition, NLP, and multimodal techniques.
• Prepare datasets with extraction, cleaning, labeling, augmentation, and feature engineering.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI into existing systems.
• Optimize model performance for accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and bias awareness.
• Develop user-friendly AI applications and interfaces (dashboards, chatbots, apps).
