Job summary

Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking an undergraduate student to join the Visualization and Decision Support Division for a fall/spring internship focused on AI/ML data preparation and meaningful research contributions.

The internship is on-site in State College, PA, with up to 20 hours/week during fall/spring and up to 40 hours/week during the summer. Prior experience with data analysis or annotation is a plus, and the environment welcomes transitioning military members.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate STEM student. Capable of learning AI/ML data prep workflows.
• Commitment to data quality and attention to detail.
• Open to working up to 20 hours/week during fall/spring and up to 40 hours/week in summer.

Responsibilities

• Label and annotate diverse datasets with a focus on geospatial data (tracks, images, video, text, sensor data).
• Support AI/ML model development for Navy/DoD/IC applications.
• Collaborate with AI/ML researchers and engineers to ensure data quality and requirements.
