Job summary

Essex, an Emmes Company, is seeking a Computational Biologist (AI/ML) to design, execute, and deliver bioinformatics analyses for federal biomedical programs. You will apply AI, ML and deep learning to genomic, proteomic and multi-modal clinical data, develop pipelines for variant calling, and translate complex results into actionable scientific insights for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, or related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant professional or research experience.
• Experience applying AI/ML to biomedical or multi-modal datasets preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI/ML models for biomedical data, including genomic and multi-modal datasets.
• Apply large language models, RAG techniques, and graph neural networks to biomedical data.
• Develop, test, and optimize pipelines for variant calling and annotation with ML workflows.
• Curate and integrate genetic and clinical datasets into interoperable formats.
• Generate interpretable reports translating AI/ML outputs for stakeholders.
