Onto Innovation is seeking a hands-on technical leader to define and guide AI in metrology. You will drive architecture, build production AI systems, and mentor engineers, collaborating with system engineers, algorithm developers, and applications teams.

You will enable agents grounded in real tools and data, with human oversight and robust evaluation, while shaping the roadmap and ensuring trust across fabrication environments.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in CS, EE, physics, or related field and hands-on experience.
• 6+ years applied ML/AI in production; 3+ in technical leadership.
• Experience defining AI strategy and system architecture; technical vision adoption across engineering.
• Hands-on depth in LLM-based systems: agents, tool calling, retrieval, and prompt/model evaluation.

Responsabilités

• Set the AI strategy and reference architecture for metrology; align with customer problems.
• Write, test, and ship production code for agent workflows and evaluation tooling.
• Design agent workflows for the metrology lifecycle and integrate with simulators and data.
• Ground agents in fab knowledge with provenance and audit trails; ensure trust and human oversight.
• Lead technically; mentor engineers; improve software quality with CI/CD and testing.
