Job summary

Duke Clinical Research Institute in Durham (Hybrid) is seeking an AI Training and Enablement Specialist to shape how the entire Duke community learns, adopts, and innovates with artificial intelligence. You will design learning experiences, develop AI-enabled applications, and guide projects from experimentation to institutional adoption.

The role blends education, consulting, and technology across teaching, research, and administration with a focus on responsible AI, ethics, and accessibility.

Qualifications

• Ability to translate complex AI concepts into accessible learning experiences for diverse audiences.
• Experience designing, deploying, or supporting AI solutions in real-world environments including GPTs, agents, embeddings, or full-stack apps.
• Experience with full-stack web development frameworks such as Rails, Django, MERN, or similar platforms.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in cross-functional settings.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging AI training programs, workshops, webinars, cohorts, and self-paced resources.
• Develop and maintain technical curriculum on custom GPTs, AI agents, prompt engineering, API integrations, and AI technologies.
• Provide consultancy to faculty, staff, and students on applying AI to real-world challenges.
• Support institutional readiness services to transition AI prototypes into sustainable solutions.
• Build and maintain AI-powered applications, APIs, infrastructure, microservices, and other technical solutions for the Duke community.
• Create documentation, guides, templates, and best practices to scale AI adoption institution-wide.
• Collaborate with faculty, AI leaders, and institutional partners to coordinate programming and share expertise.
• Cultivate communities of practice for ongoing learning and innovation with AI.
