Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Chinese Language Expert to evaluate and improve AI systems for Chinese language learning. You will shape how AI understands, assesses, and teaches Chinese, contributing to a globally relevant educational project.

This is a remote, hourly contract requiring a minimum of 15 hours per week, with fully asynchronous work. A Bachelor's degree or higher and native-level Chinese proficiency are expected, plus strong English writing skills.

Qualifications

• Native Chinese language proficiency required.
• Experience teaching Chinese or evaluating learner language.
• Strong written English communication (CEFR C1/C2).
• Familiar with CEFR frameworks for learner language.
• Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Excellent attention to detail and linguistic judgment.
• No prior AI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated Chinese speech and text for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality.
• Assess learner speech and writing across CEFR levels from Pre-A1 to B2+.
• Apply expert judgment to identify learner errors and pedagogical gaps.
• Suggest improvements for clear, idiomatic, culturally appropriate Chinese.
• Provide structured feedback that strengthens AI tutoring and language-learning models.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts.

What You'll Do

Who You Are

• Native-level proficiency in Chinese
• Experience teaching Chinese or evaluating learner language
• Strong written communication skills in English (C1/C2 level)
• Solid familiarity with learner speech patterns and CEFR frameworks
• Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher
• Attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment
• No prior AI experience required
