Met Council seeks a Policy Fellow to join our Policy and Advocacy team to support AI and labor policy work advancing anti-poverty goals.

The fellow will conduct original research on AI's labor-market impact, draft legislation and testimony, and engage stakeholders across City Hall, the State Capitol, and Washington, D.C. This 12‑month hybrid fellowship develops expertise across Met Council's policy portfolio.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in public policy, law, or related field; recent graduates encouraged.
• Bachelor’s degree with policy experience and a research track record may be considered.
• Demonstrated interest in AI policy as it relates to workers and low-income communities.
• Familiarity with AI and labor policy debates at city, state, and federal levels preferred.
• Familiarity with nutrition, benefits, and housing policy across levels; knowledge of NYC policy processes preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Experience with data visualization tools (ArcGIS, Tableau, Stata, R) preferred.
• Experience with public presentations and oral testimony.
• Strong grant writing and reporting skills.

Responsabilités

• Research AI’s labor policy landscape and its impact on low-wage workers and communities.
• Collaborate to develop AI accountability and worker-protections agendas.
• Identify advocacy opportunities and shape legislative strategies and budgets.
• Draft legislation, testimony, memos, and policy briefs for diverse audiences.
• Participate in City Hall, State Capitol, and D.C. hearings on AI and anti-poverty issues.
• Support grant applications and reporting for the Policy Department.
