Job description

About Us

At Uber, we're not just moving people and things; we're building a global business grounded in integrity. Our Financial Risk Management (FRM) Advisory team is the backbone of that integrity, ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, trustworthy, and compliant with various regulatory requirements.

About Us

At Uber, we're not just moving people and things; we're building a global business grounded in integrity. Our Financial Risk Management (FRM) Advisory team is the backbone of that integrity, ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, trustworthy, and compliant with various regulatory requirements.

As AI becomes increasingly embedded in Uber's financial processes, the need to govern it rigorously has never been greater. As an AI Governance Lead on this team, you will help build the paved road-the frameworks, scaffolds, and control architectures that allow Uber's Finance and CAO functions to adopt AI confidently, with the right guardrails in place. Positioned at the cutting edge of technological advancement, Uber is committed to equipping our Finance teams with the tools and autonomy necessary to innovate, architect, and deploy sophisticated automated solutions. This role enables Finance to build securely, sitting at the intersection of emerging technology and financial risk, requiring you to work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers, compliance technology teams, and senior Finance and CAO stakeholders to design controls that are both technically sound. This isn't just about checking boxes-it's about shaping what good looks like in a space where the standards are still being written.

Our Mission

We ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion.

What We Do

Uber's technology platform reimagines the way people and things move in cities around the world by connecting drivers, riders, and eaters. We offer a variety of services including:

  • Ride-sharing: Connecting riders with drivers for convenient transportation.
  • Delivery: Connecting consumers with restaurants and stores for food, groceries, and other deliveries.
  • Freight: Connecting shippers and carriers in the logistics space.
What you will do:
  • AI Control Scaffold Development: Partner directly with the engineering and FRM Compliance Technology team to design, build, and maintain reusable control frameworks and scaffolds for AI use cases that impact financial reporting. Translate requirements into implementable technical specifications that engineering teams can deploy and scale across the organization.
  • AI Use Case Evaluation: Serve as the FRM point of contact for evaluating new AI implementations within Finance and CAO. Assess ICFR risk exposure, determine whether existing controls are sufficient or whether new controls must be designed, and document evaluation findings in a repeatable, audit-ready format that supports both internal and external review.
  • Control Design & Implementation: Design and operationalize novel controls for AI-specific risks-including model drift, hallucination, data quality degradation, and human-in-the-loop failures-where no established precedent exists. Define control objectives, evidence requirements, and test plans for each new control, creating durable documentation that can be audited and replicated.
  • FinTech & Compliance Technology Partnership: Embed with FinTech and compliance technology teams throughout the AI development lifecycle, from product design through deployment and ongoing operation. Surface control requirements early to prevent costly retrofits, and collaborate on technical implementations that satisfy audit standards without creating unnecessary friction for engineering partners.
  • CAO & Finance Stakeholder Engagement: Support FRM leadership in engaging CAO and Finance stakeholders on AI governance matters. Build working relationships with accounting policy, financial reporting, and operations control owners to ensure AI adoption decisions are grounded in a clear understanding of ICFR impact. Translate governance requirements into practical language that resonates with non-technical stakeholders and helps control owners understand and fulfill their responsibilities within the AI control environment.
  • Risk Assessment & Ongoing Monitoring: Execute risk diagnostics on active AI use cases within the ICFR scope. Design and implement monitoring mechanisms that provide continuous visibility into control effectiveness as AI systems evolve, and escalate emerging risks to FRM leadership in a timely and well-documented manner.
  • Deficiency Management & Remediation: Identify, document, and track control gaps within the AI control environment. Investigate root causes, partner with FinTech and business stakeholders to design appropriate remediation plans, and monitor corrective actions through to successful completion.
  • Program Reporting & Management: Maintain the AI controls inventory and prepare clear status updates and workpaper documentation to support FRM leadership reporting and external audit requests. Track progress against the AI Governance program roadmap and help coordinate the prioritization and scheduling of new use case evaluations and scaffold development work.
  • Regulatory Intelligence & Standards Development: Track emerging AI-specific regulatory and audit guidance and translate findings into actionable program updates, control standard revisions, and stakeholder communications that keep Uber ahead of the curve.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in IT audit, internal audit, or public accounting.
  • Demonstrated exposure to AI/ML systems, automation platforms, and technology governance frameworks.
  • Program or project management experience coordinating cross-functional workstreams.
  • Experience working directly with AI/ML systems, LLMs, or AI-powered tools-whether in audit, testing, governance, or implementation capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CISA, CPA, CIA, or other relevant professional certification is highly preferred.
  • Big 4 or top-tier advisory firm experience is a plus.
  • Working experience with SOX compliance.
  • Enthusiastic about Uber!
