Job summary

You will split time between writing production code and setting architectural direction, ensuring consistency across language and engine variants for a coherent developer experience. You will leverage AI-first tooling, prototype API designs, draft RFCs, and build scalable tooling to accelerate the SDK team's output.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time designing and shipping SDKs, libraries, tools, or platform APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Unreal and/or Unity, including engine integrations with external native libraries.
• Strong instincts around API design, versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility.
• Hands-on experience with LLM tools as part of daily engineering workflow, delivering productivity gains.
• Ability to make technical decisions, defend with evidence, and adapt to new information.
• Clear, generous communication; experience writing design docs and leading code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Own technical decisions for the SDK portfolio and align with engineering managers on direction.
• Spend roughly half time coding and half time setting technical direction.
• Architectural consistency across language and engine variants for a coherent developer experience.
• Define and uphold API design, documentation, backward compatibility, performance and reliability standards.
• Use AI-powered workflows to prototype designs and automate repetitive tasks.
• Build AI-assisted tooling to scale the SDK team's impact.
• Mentor engineers and influence across teams without direct reporting lines.
• Collaborate with studio leads to feed production learnings into the roadmap.
• Represent the SDK team in cross-functional technical discussions.
