Job summary

Per Scholas is seeking an industry-experienced Low-Voltage Fiber Technician Instructor to deliver a hands-on training program that prepares entry-level adult learners for careers in fiber optics, structured cabling, low-voltage installation, telecommunications infrastructure, data center cabling, and security and fire alarm systems installation.

The ideal candidate is safety-minded, field-experienced, and can teach learners to install, terminate, test, certify, document, and troubleshoot copper

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of teaching, training, mentoring, apprenticeship instruction, field coaching, or technical facilitation experience preferred.
• Ability to teach adult learners with clear explanations, demonstrations, guided practice, feedback, and job-relevant examples.
• Strong classroom and lab management skills, including safety, pacing, learner engagement, and hands-on practice.
• Ability to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that mirrors professional workplace expectations.
• Experience using learning management systems and collaboration tools (Canvas, Zoom, Slack, Office 365, etc.).
• Ability to use AI-enabled tools responsibly for instructional support, troubleshooting practice, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instructor-led training for AI-Enhanced Low-Voltage Fiber Technician courses and related entry-level roles.
• Facilitate daily hands-on labs in copper cabling, fiber installation, testing, and documentation.
• Teach Cat5E/Cat6/Cat6A cabling concepts, termination, and testing to industry standards.
• Cover fiber optic concepts, testing methods, splicing, OTDR interpretation, and as-built records.
• Model jobsite safety practices and support OSHA 10 and NFPA 70E expectations.
• Lead labs on construction math, jobsite readiness, and tool safety; assist capstone projects.
