Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director, AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to lead AI initiatives and build scalable, responsible AI systems. You will partner with engineers, researchers, PMs and compliance to deploy production-grade AI capabilities across banking products.

The role requires deep technical expertise in ML, model optimization, and platform governance, plus leadership experience. This position is remote-eligible, with opportunities to shape enterprise AI strategy and mentor a growing team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS, AI, EE, or CE with relevant AI/ML experience.
• Minimum 8 years (or 6 with Master's) developing AI/ML algorithms.
• At least 3 years of people leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
• Invent and optimize foundation model techniques for performance and cost.
• Contribute to long-term AI foundation system roadmap.
• Attract and retain top AI talent and foster development.
