Job summary

Databricks is hiring an AI Engineer to help build the intelligence and application layers of our AI-native platform. You will work on Genie-powered analytics agents, LLM-driven workflows, and Databricks Apps and Lakebase services that support them.

Expect heavy use of AI tools from day one, in a high-ownership, fast-shipping environment. You will collaborate with data and app engineers and strategy/ops stakeholders to move ideas into tickets, PRs, and production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of software and AI engineering experience.
• Strong Python and SQL fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs / generative AI via APIs, prompts, RAG, knowledge graphs & agents.
• Fluency with AI developer tools (Claude, Cursor) and a drive to push AI-assisted engineering.
• Clear communication and ability to work with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship features for AI-powered surfaces: Genie analytics agents, LLM-assisted workflows, and in-app intelligence.
• Develop agentic workflows — prompts, tool integrations, retrieval, evaluation to answer business questions.
• Write Python and SQL against Databricks lakehouse and Lakebase services behind apps.
• Use AI coding tools as a core part of the workflow and build reusable skills harnesses.
