Job description

About The Company

Armada is an edge computing startup that provides computing infrastructure to remote areas where connectivity and cloud infrastructure are limited, as well as areas where data needs to be processed locally for real-time analytics and AI at the edge. We’re looking to bring on the most brilliant minds to help further our mission of bridging the digital divide with advanced technology infrastructure that can be rapidly deployed anywhere.

About The Role

At Armada, we’re unlocking the limitless potential of AI to transform defense operations and save lives in some of the most remote locations on Earth. We offer a unique opportunity to tackle real-world AI and ML challenges on a global scale. We are actively seeking fearless AI Engineers with expertise in real-time computer vision, statistical machine learning, natural language processing, transformers, control and navigation, reinforcement learning, and large-scale distributed AI systems. U.S. citizenship and an active DOD Secret security clearance (or willingness to obtain one) are required.

Ideal candidates will have strong skills in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and real-time computer vision. Responsibilities include developing ML/DL models for specific challenges, preparing and testing datasets, evaluating model performance, and deploying solutions into production environments. Experience with containerization, microservices architecture, and deploying ML models independently is essential.

If you are passionate about using AI to protect our nation and its allies, we’d love to hear from you. Armada provides an unparalleled opportunity to engage with some of the most exciting AI and ML challenges globally. Join our AI Engineering team as we deliver disruptive edge-computing systems that enable autonomous learning, prediction, and adaptation from vast, real-time datasets.

We pioneer high-performance, resilient computing for remote operations involving drones, autonomous vehicles, camera networks, robotics, conversational agents, and real-time monitoring systems. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide and deliver cutting-edge technology to support warfighters worldwide. Join us in fulfilling this ambitious mission!

Location: This role is remote in the continental United States.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coding, data wrangling, processing, and visualization in a Command and Control (C2) environment
  2. Developing and maintaining data-driven software solutions to support business needs
  3. Developing and implementing DSP, AI, ML, and DL models/tools to improve processes, leveraging existing research algorithms when applicable
  4. Testing, evaluating, benchmarking models, and publishing datasets and evaluations
  5. Deploying models into production via containerization
  6. Translating business requirements into AI/ML/DL model specifications
  7. Collaborating with customers and team members to refine models
  8. Establishing continuous learning pipelines with online or transfer learning
  9. Building and deploying containerized applications on cloud or on-premise environments

Required Qualifications

  1. BS or MS in electrical/computer engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  2. 3+ years of software development experience with proficiency in Python, Java, and/or C/C++
  3. Experience with containers, numeric libraries, and modular software design
  4. Hands-on expertise with statistical ML techniques and deep learning, including NLP models
  5. Knowledge of supervised, unsupervised, and transfer learning techniques
  6. Experience with neural network architectures (Transformers, CNNs, R-CNNs, RNNs, BERT, GANs, autoencoders) and frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
  7. Proven ability to apply ML solutions to real-world problems
  8. U.S. citizen with an active DOD Secret clearance or willingness to obtain one

Preferred Skills

  1. Experience with autonomous or robotic systems hardware/software integration
  2. Ability to develop computationally efficient, real-time software
  3. Experience with Kubernetes and container platforms
  4. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
