JPI Companies is building production-grade AI and agentic capabilities within its Digital Workflows team, and an AI Engineer role is open in Dallas, TX (onsite). In this position, you will design and deliver shipped software such as AI-driven applications, integrations, and automations, using AI coding assistants and agentic development tools as a core part of day‑to‑day engineering.
As JPI modernizes its software development ecosystem around AI, this role supports the company’s digital strategy by turning requirements into reliable systems that meet established standards for design, testing, security, and maintainability.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, test, and ship production software, including integrations, internal applications, agents, and automations, leveraging AI coding assistants and agentic development tools.
- Translate business requirements into specifications with clear context and constraints to guide AI tools toward accurate, maintainable outcomes.
- Review, test, and refactor AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability, taking accountability for what is committed and deployed.
- Use AI to generate and maintain unit and integration tests, technical documentation, and code‑review feedback.
- Create and share reusable prompts, project context files, and workflows to improve AI‑assisted development practices; evaluate new tools and models and recommend adoption when they improve quality, speed, or cost.
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain agents, RPA, and AI‑powered applications using frameworks and protocols such as LangGraph and MCP.
- Establish and maintain guardrails for security, reliability, fairness, accuracy, observability, and traceability, and continually update agents and AI solutions to uphold these standards.
- Build scalable integrations using Workato, Flows for Apex, Python, Oracle Cloud, and REST APIs to coordinate flows between systems, using AI‑assisted development to accelerate delivery.
- Set up and maintain secure connections to third‑party systems, and document integration flows and connections.
- Optimize performance, reliability, and observability for applications and integrations.
- Translate functional requirements into technical user stories and contribute to application development by implementing features or solving challenging problems as needed.
- Design, test, and evaluate prompts and model configurations, iterating based on output quality, cost, and latency benchmarks.
- Participate in peer code reviews, including review of AI‑generated code, and contribute to technical decision‑making.
- Participate in Agile processes such as sprint planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives, and support the scrum team in meeting sprint commitments.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and deliver user stories and application features within sprint cycles.
- Support adoption of Agents and RPA by helping business units use them effectively and monitoring and improving feature usage.
- Work with UI developers to ensure integrations and Agents align with UI needs.
- Share AI‑assisted development, agentic, RPA, and integration best practices, including coaching teammates on effective use of AI coding tools.
- Use approved enterprise AI tools (e.g., Claude, Microsoft Copilot) and AI coding assistants to accelerate development, debugging, and documentation work.
- Follow company data handling, confidentiality, and acceptable‑use policies when working with AI tools and sensitive information.
- Demonstrate curiosity and willingness to adopt new tools by participating in AI training, office hours, and adoption campaigns.
- Use AI assistants to reduce manual effort on routine engineering tasks such as boilerplate code, refactoring, test scaffolding, and research.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
