Job summary

Fredrikson & Byron, a premier Midwest law firm, seeks a Research Librarian to join the Research & Knowledge Management team. You will deliver high-impact legal and business research support to attorneys and staff, coordinating with the Director of Research and Knowledge Management.

You will use AI-enabled tools, manage requests via the ticketing system, produce tailored deliverables, develop training materials, and contribute to knowledge management initiatives while staying current on industry

Qualifications

• MLIS from an ALA-accredited program required; JD strongly preferred.
• 3–5 years of legal and business research experience in a law firm or law library.
• Experience with Westlaw, Bloomberg, VitalLaw, PACER, Case Portal, Courthouse News, Capital IQ.
• Hands-on experience with legal/enterprise AI platforms and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal and business research and synthesize findings into clear, accurate responses.
• Use AI-enabled research tools and validate AI outputs.
• Assist attorneys in applying AI-assisted research best practices.
• Manage research requests via the department's ticketing system.
• Produce customized deliverables and reports using GenAI workflows to summarize and present findings.
• Maintain current awareness and docket alert portfolios.
• Contribute to evaluating research service trends and process improvements.
• Assist in evaluating and trialing new information resources and provide feedback.
• Collaborate on training programs and information literacy initiatives.
• Serve as a research partner to assigned practice groups and share updates.
• Stay current on industry trends and participate in professional organizations.
