Job summary

The Paul G Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington invites applications for an AI-focused teaching faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor. This is a full-time, nine-month academic appointment beginning September 16, 2027, with duties split between AI/ML education programs and undergraduate/graduate AI courses.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching as an instructor or teaching assistant.
Technical expertise in artificial intelligence and/or machine learning as applied to engineering, such as design, optimization, control, and/or modeling of engineering systems.

Responsibilities

Teach courses in AI, machine learning, and computing curriculum with an emphasis on student success and mentoring teaching assistants.
Teach undergraduate and graduate AI courses in the Allen School based on expertise and interest.
Contribute to the Allen School, College of Engineering, and University through leadership and service roles.
Contribute to educational scholarship through course development and engagement with educational communities.
Promote an inclusive community through teaching, service, and scholarship.
